If you're emotionally invested enough to be regularly checking this page,
you're probably a big fan of "waiting". However, I'd like to suggest
"doing stuff" as a healthy, great-tasting alternative.

Generally speaking, if you enjoy shonen anime OPs or the vocal themes
from RWBY, Metal Gear Rising, or modern Sonic the Hedgehog games, just
go check out the entire soundtrack for Let
It Die, or maybe just check out J-Rock, J-Punk and Japanese Emo in
general.

ha-ha IGN 7/10, i mean it as in "good, not great"
Tynk! and the Final Phonorecord -
Full disclosure; I contributed to this game's IndieGoGo campaign. While
it's a bit hard to describe (combatless RPG?), it does have a demo,
so you don't really have an excuse for not trying it.
OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast - Okay, so you can't get this one on any
online storefront, but if you can get a copy (by
any means neccesary) then know that OutRun 2006 is one of the
most pure pieces of mechanical satisfaction I've ever played, and that
(of course) means you should play it too. Check out the PSP version on
original hardware if you can!
No More Heroes 1-3: - I try to keep this page limited to stuff made by
independent creators or generally obscure stuff, and the original No
More Heroes doesn't exactly fall under either criteria in my opinion.
However, I feel it's safe to say most people checked out after a few
hours with NMH1, so this is me saying you should play the whole trilogy.
No More Heroes and No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle both offer some
thoughtful—if somewhat clunky—hack and slash/character action/spectacle
fighter (we really need a definitive name for this genre) gameplay, with
No More Heroes 3 polishing
the gameplay to the level of a Platinum game, and the combination
of NMH1 and NMH2 offers one of the cleanest character arcs I've ever
seen. If that interests you, I'd like to make four recommendations for
the eager first-time player:
Don't play NMH1 on the Wii. Play it on Switch
or PC.
Don't bother with the final boss of NMH2. Just watch the post-boss
cutscene on YouTube.
if you're need to play Gex: Enter the Gecko for some reason, play the
PAL version so you can listen to an incredibly dozy british man deliver
Gex's lines instead of Dana Gould.

the world's nicest PSP, consider modding
a PS Vita.

is basically the only podcast I listen to anymore (if you have any
podcast recommendations, make sure to shout them at me in the street!).
The way I'd describe it is drive-time radio for game developers or those
interested in the more obscure side of gaming. Any 2022+ episode is a
pretty reliably chill time (although don't think I'm not recommending
their back catalog, because I absolutely am!), although I'd recommend #245 or their recent arcade game ranking episode
as a great place to start.
